FOCUSQUARE is a focus timer. It records how long you focused — not what you were working on. This page describes exactly what leaves your device and what does not.

Using FOCUSQUARE without an account

You can use FOCUSQUARE without signing in. In this mode your timers, your statistics and your settings stay on your device only. Nothing is sent to us or to any server, and we have no way to see it. If you uninstall the app without signing in, that data is gone.

What we store when you sign in

Signing in is optional and uses Google Sign-In. If you sign in, Google provides us with your email address, your display name and your profile picture, and the following is stored in your account so it can sync between your devices and be restored if you change phone:

Reminder settings and the times you choose are kept on your device. Notifications are scheduled locally by your phone; we are not involved in sending them and we do not know whether you act on them.

What we never collect

FOCUSQUARE does not use Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, advertising SDKs, or any tracking or profiling technology. We do not collect your location, we do not record what you are working on, we do not build a profile of you, and we do not sell or share your data with anyone for advertising. There are no cookies in the app.

Subscriptions and promo codes

The paid plan is billed by Google Play. Payment is handled entirely by Google — we never see your card details. We store only what is needed to know whether your subscription is active: which plan it came from, when it expires, and the purchase identifier Google gives us.

If you redeem a promo code, we keep a record that the code was redeemed by your account, containing the code and the date. This is what stops a code being used more than once. It contains no other information about you.

Where your data is stored

Data for signed-in users is stored using Google Firebase — Cloud Firestore and Firebase Authentication. Google processes it on our behalf as our service provider. A copy is also kept on your device so the app works offline.

Data retention

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. Backups may persist for a short period after deletion for operational reasons.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account and its data from inside the app, under Settings. This removes your timers, your statistics and your sign-in account. You can also request deletion by email — see our Data Deletion Policy.

Your rights

You can see all of your data in the app and delete it at any time. If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the right to request a copy of your data, to have it corrected, and to object to how it is processed. Contact us at the address below.

Children

FOCUSQUARE is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change what FOCUSQUARE collects, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
